Experience

This isn't a CV - it's what I've taken from each role. Eight roles over 20+ years, with each experience compounding on the previous.

  1. Yoco Design Manager & Tribe Lead, Point-of-sale

    2024 to present

I co-lead the tribe alongside product and engineering, shaping what we build across our POS software and hardware. I manage a team of designers, contribute to design strategy, and keep the bar high on customer value and craft.

  2. OfferZen Head of Product Design

    2019 to 2024

Grew from Product Designer to Head of Product Design across five years at a B2B hiring marketplace. Built and led the design function, hired designers, coached them into stronger operators, and set the standards for craft and impact across the marketplace product.

  3. Absa Design Director, Retail & Business Banking

    2016 to 2019

Led a team of designers and frontend developers building a new online banking experience for one of South Africa's largest banks. Launched September 2019.

  4. Takealot Head of Design, then UX Designer

    2014 to 2016

Two roles across two and a half years at South Africa's largest e-commerce business. Started as Head of Design, then made a deliberate move back into an IC role. A reset that reshaped how I think about design leadership and craft.

  5. Quirk (later Mirum) Digital Designer / Art Director

    2010 to 2014

First taste of hyper-growth: 50 people in one office to 300 across five when the agency scaled and eventually became Mirum. Worked on Capitec, Woolworths, Distell, and Unilever.

  6. Bottomline Interactive Digital Designer

    2008 to 2010

An owner-led boutique digital agency in Cape Town. A transition role coming back from a year out — a place to get back into the craft and figure out what I wanted next.

  7. Career break

    2007 to 2008

A season working and snowboarding in Vail, Colorado, followed by several months travelling through Utah, California, London, Amsterdam, and Copenhagen.

  8. Prolimit Design Lead

    2004 to 2007

First exposure to physical product design. Worked with industrial designers and manufacturing partners on a water sports brand, choosing colours and materials, applying branding, and seeing product go from concept to production.

  9. Generator (later HelloComputer) Digital Designer

    2002 to 2004

First job, started in the final months of my design diploma. A craft-focused, digital-first agency working across a wide mix of clients. I learned more about software and design tools in those first few months than in two years of study.
